The Arctic Monkeys are an English Indie rock band formed in 2002 in High Green, England, a suburb of Sheffield. The band consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals), Jamie Cook (lead guitar), Nick O’Malley (bass guitar), and Matt Helders (drums).
The band started becoming well known after their second album “Favourite Worst Nightmare”, although their fame resided in England. It wasn’t until just a year ago when they released their fifth album “AM” that the Arctic Monkeys’ fame and popularity passed over to America. Although they haven’t released an album since “AM” back in 2013, they are still touring all over the world as “AM” is still popular among those who are interested in the indie genre of music.
From sources at http://www.reuters.com, just a few months ago the Indie quartet picked up the coveted best album award and triumphed over the boy band “One Direction” to be named the best group and have their album “AM” put on top of the best selling albums list. Although the Arctic Monkeys went head to head with One Direction, they still managed to win, tallying their BRITs silverware count to seven. According their website, http://www.arcticmonkeys.com, their next tour starts in June and takes place in seven spots located across America, starting in Louisville, KY on Saturday, June 14th.
