The Shenendehowa High School is yet again performing another play. This year, the drama club and their director, Mr. Michael Lotano, are taking on the play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, written by William Shakespeare. This is a comedy about the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, and Hippolyta. The play is very popular and widely performed throughout the world, now including our school community.
Zachary Engle, a tenth grader who is playing Theseus, was reluctant to give too much away. “It’s been a really fun process, and I’m looking forward for everyone to see how it comes together. It’s a really good play, I think everyone will enjoy it,” he said.
Rayanne Vasquez, a tenth grader who is working on the crew, is equally enthusiastic about the upcoming event. “I’m excited about working with make up and using my artistic ability to work on the set,” she said.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream will run from Nov. 11 through Nov. 14. The times of the performances are unknown at this point, but please remain attentive to the morning announcements to find out and show support for your fellow classmates who are a part of the school play.
The play is a good way for young actors to improve their skills, as Engle hopes to do. “I’m hoping to improve my acting skills and have fun with it,” he said.
